Your Key to IBD at Mac Kids

Anne - Hockey Girl

Hi! I’m Anne!

I’m 16 years old, in Grade 11, and have two cats.

My life pretty much consists of school, hockey and work… but hockey is my life. I have played girls rep hockey for eight years. Ever since I started playing I have been a defenceman. I love hockey and one day I hope to play for Team Canada. Right now, I am hoping for a university scholarship.

I also enjoy playing basketball, volleyball, baseball, and even golf!

I enjoy Hip-Hop. I love hanging out, watching movies and shopping with my friends.

I was diagnosed at the age of 8, after a period of bleeding with my bowel movements and stomach aches. When I was first diagnosed, I was scared.

I now come to see the Mac Kids team once a year for follow-up. As far as my friends go, I prefer to stay quiet about my IBD.

If I had one tip to offer a newcomer to IBD, I would say: “Don’t let it stop you from doing what you love to do. Listen to your doctor and follow his or her advice!”
