3E Center for Child & Youth Digestive Health
The 3E Center for Child & Youth Digestive Health is a specialized clinic that centralizes services for children and teens with digestive disorders, including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, liver diseases, and nutrition disorders.
The Center, which opened in October of 2010, is located in the 3E Child and Youth Clinic, midway between the red and the yellow elevators on the third floor.
Most pediatric IBD patients at Mac Kids are seen in this new clinic. On occasion, some may also be seen as inpatients.
Clinic hours, phone numbers, and other clinic-related information is available on the Contact Us page.
The Pediatric Gastroenterology Service at McMaster began in 1981. We now provide consultations to as many as 1,500 children and youth each year, from Hamilton and south-central Ontario. This involves about 3,600 clinic visits annually.
Our care is multidisciplinary and optimistic, with an understanding that a child’s medical conditions affect the whole family.
Our staff emphasizes health rather than the disease, and focuses on the needs of the young person rather than on the limits of illness.
We work as a team to develop a long-term therapeutic relationship with our patients and families. This partnership often extends through many years, while we watch our young patients grow and make their “gutsy move” to adult care.
